Today sees the start of the Blue Film Festival in California, which showcases the world's finest ocean films and award winning marine photography along with a film makers marketplace, science and conservation seminars, international policy discussions and a robust ocean media industry conference.
Every two years ocean leaders, filmmakers, photographers, scientists, explorers, entertainment executives – and the general public-- gather in Monterey, California at BLUE to honour the best in ocean filmmaking, to learn more about the issues facing our oceans, and to collaborate on improving the future of our oceans and humanity.
The elements that make up BLUE combine to:
- Honour the world’s best ocean films through the best-in-class film competition
- Promote the critical dialogue between filmmakers and scientists, to inspire great films
- Connect ocean filmmakers with the latest technology, financing and distribution resources.

Global Ocean Film Festival
At the heart of the Monterey event is BLUE Ocean Film Festival, which screens over 100 finalist films and showcases stellar ocean photography. All events are open to the general public and industry delegates.
Industry Event
Filmmakers, photographers, scientists, leading media brands, and equipment manufacturers—come together for BLUE’s Industry Event—which promotes excellence in underwater imaging and storytelling.
Conservation Summit
World-class speakers and panels impart the latest science, share insight, debate issues and challenge audiences to be proactive.
BLUE on Tour
BLUE on Tour makes this stunning collection of films, and cutting edge conservation programmes, available to audiences around the world.
